About SableLux Design

Welcome to SableLux Design. The name represents the balance between contrast and harmony in my work. Sable—an Old English word for black—symbolizes depth, sophistication, and boldness, while Lux—a measure of light—represents clarity, creativity, and illumination. Together, they reflect my design philosophy: creating visually striking and thoughtful work that merges shadow with light, simplicity with elegance.

My name is David, and I am a UX/UI, web, and digital designer focused on creating seamless, user-centered experiences that combine functionality with a sophisticated, ‘new utilitarianism’, visual design aesthetic. With a commitment to detail and an emphasis on intuitive interfaces, while staying mindful of accessibility and equity-focused design, these services are tailored to enhance usability and deliver impactful, engaging solutions.

My Design Process

While every project is unique, I typically follow a Design Thinking framework that emphasizes empathy, research, ideation, and iteration. I apply core design principles—including Gestalt principles, visual hierarchy, emphasis, scale, proportion, and intentional use of color—to create user-centered solutions that align with both business goals and brand guidelines. Depending on the product or client needs, I adapt my approach to be lean, research-driven, and/or visually focused as appropriate.

In my case studies, I focus on showing only the most relevant and essential parts of the process to avoid overwhelming hiring managers or viewers. That said, I do create a wide range of supporting artifacts during each project—from user storyboards and visual user journey maps to empathy maps, Double Diamond diagrams, etc. (depending on the project).
